kathystrick 3 Posted April 22, 2008 Hi and welcome to LBT! The best piece of advice I can give is to educate yourself: learn about your doctor, the surgery itself, how things will be post-op, and most importantly, the reasons you over eat in the first place and how you are going to deal with those emotions when you can't medicate with food anymore. This site is a great place for information and support, so be sure to utilize all that is available. Good luck!
shortgal 5 Posted April 22, 2008 Welcome! My advice is to follow your Dr's recommended pre and post op diets carefully. Get your fills when you need them and expect that sometimes weight loss will be slow. Your band will not do all the work, you'll have to help it. Learning to understand the difference between real hunger and "head" hunger takes time. And last, exercise helps. Good Luck on your surgery.
obgray 0 Posted April 22, 2008 I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow. I have received instructions on the post op diet, but until I was reading the threads today, I didn't realize that there was going to be a special pre-op diet as well. I was hoping for one last baked ziti.

I was hoping for one last baked ziti. Pasta :glare: :Dancing_biggrin: Some doctors don't require a pre-op diet, although it seems like most do so they can have that extra room from the liver shrinkage. Be sure to get that straight with your doctor before surgery time!
