Talk with someone banded at YLBC

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would really like to talk on the phone with someone who has had surgery at TLBC. Not sure what to expect and would like to talk with a person other than their employees. I will gladly pay for the call. Email me privately. Northern Ont.

Thanks to all that responded to my need for more info at TLBC. Too many to contact everyone. Those that I spoken to have been very helpful and have cleared up many concerns. Anxiously waiting the big day. May 28. It really makes me feel comfortable knowing that you all were given excellent care at TLBC.

Can't wait to start losing .:(

anxious? or excited? If anxious, anything we can tell you. I went thru all the emotions there are. Excited, anxious, regret, fear, self doubt, might miss my old comfort food etc. right up until I got on the surgery table. Now I wonder why. I wouldn't change my life for anything in this world. The band has saved my life. Doddie

I have nothing but good things to say about TLBC, I was just there on Thursday, thinking that I was too tight but I was not really sure. They spent time with me talking and set up a apt with the nutrition coordinator who gave me tons of information to help me to reach my goals. They took me right away because I was from out of town. I was not really sure what to ask her. She was great. An as it turned out I did not need I defill after all. Being from Thunder bay it is hard to get the support that you may need. I am now on a list the will recieve a call every two weeks for a support meeting. That is so awsome for me !!!:coolgleamA::cool2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
