Hi All;

I was banded on Friday 4/18 and have been doing fairly well.... Today is my first day on mushy Proteins and I have been getting food down with no problems. My question is...today I had a really bad weak spell with sweating, nausea and a headache. I felt like I was going to faint so I had to lay down for a few minutes. I ate something with a bit of sugar (just a bite) and felt fine for hours and now the feeling is coming back. I dont want to keep looking for things with sugar because I am not hungry. I go the doctor for a follow up on Thursday but I was wondering if anyone has had the same issues? Its kind of like sugar/carb withdrawl... is this normal?

Thank you

Could be some dehydration; are you drinking a lot of fluids? Here in Arizona it is absolutely essential to keep your Fluid levels up, since you aren't getting as much fluid with your food anymore.

Actually I think I am only getting one liter per day...only about half of what I need.... I will try increasing my amount and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip :tongue_smilie:

Yes, getting plenty of proteins... had about 60g today... no problems with the Proteins at all. I was on clear fluids for a few days and just switched to mushies today.

Here is what I ate on my first day today........

2 scrambled eggs with very little feta cheese

a few small bites of banana

1 piece of deli turkey rolled up with light laughing cow cheese

1/4 cup cottage cheese

1/2 piece of orange ruffy (sp)

a few florets of steamed broccli (very steamed)

Water and crystal light to drink ............

Please let me know if there are any suggestions?

Thanks

I was just banded on Thurs. 17 and only allowed liquids--barely surviving! Sugar has been a bear for me to deal with but has gotten easier over time(no more dizzy, fainting spells). I do feel weak but dunno if its recovery or lo-sugar, lo-carb issue.

My surgery went well but I was in major pain for 4 days:( Just glad its behind me know and looking forward to skinney days lol!

Cheers to a new you!

patches:)

Thanks berrypatches! Same to you! The not eating sugar is driving me crazy.... I feel like if I could just eat a Blizzard it would make me all better... but I guess that is how I got here in the first place!

Good luck to you!

First of all, congrats on the surgery. Sorry you are feeling bad, be sure to up your Water intake and see if that helps.

Okay, I'm not harping on you, but you need to be very careful with your food. Some of the things you listed that you ate are NOT considered mushies. Deli meat and broccoli are not mushies. I know deli meat is pretty soft, but you need to give your stomach time to heal. You've only been banded for 3 days!

I am amazed that you are already on mushies. I was on liquids for at least 2 weeks. Did your doctor say it was okay to start eating mushies? Did he/she give you a list of appropriate foods to eat? Please be careful, I would hate for you to mess up your band. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Georgia Girl..........I will up my Water intake....

I am following my Doctors orders as far as eating goes...I should have phrased it as it shows in the book as "soft proteins"..(no mushy stage).. but I did take everything off my list of approved foods.... Its just liqued for four days including surgery day and then on the fifth day thru week 5/6 its all soft Proteins. I have been reading my book over and over to make sure I am not doing anything against plans.... I was kind of suprised too after reading the boards and seeing how long people are on liqueds for...but so far no problems except for feeling really weak.

It could be low blood sugar, low blood pressure or dehydration. Or a combo of these so calling your doctor is your best bet. They may need to adjust any medications you might be taking or change something in your diet.

Gratz on your surgery! :biggrin2:

Hi there... I am type 2 diabetic. The symptoms you describe sound like beginnings of a "hypo" which happens when your blood sugar drops too low.

If you are not getting carbs, this is entirely possible if you are prone to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Before the surgery you may have always had enough carbs so that you never reached the point of feeling symptoms.

Best to see your doctor to be on the safe side.

Oh My! That is way too funny! I feel the same way, a Blizzard can fix just about anything! The Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard, quite possibly Nature's most perfect food!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
