Okay, I thought I'd try and get something going in the thirties. When/as you lose weight, would you wear a mini skirt? I'm not talking obscene, just pretty short.

I find I'm having to re-evaluate everything I wear. Is it appropriate. Do I look good enough to wear it. Husbands are no help! :-)

Just thought this might be fun. What are your thoughts?

I voted no as well. I do, however, have a mini skirt that I have worn. I'm only 5'0" tall so it comes to my knees. Nothing mini about that. I really won't go any shorter than that.

I buy long shorts as well. I do have some that are a little shorter but I'm not comfortable wearing those out yet.

Oh - and no DH is no help. He's wanting to buy me leathers to get on his motorcycle. I think he wants to show me off way more than I do.

For DH's eyes only, if he wanted me to, yes.

In public, no. My thighs look like socks full of quarters. Add to that the baggy weightloss skin making skin folds on my inner thighs. As if that weren't enough, I'm knock-kneed. Anyone turned on yet?

I also do try to be age-appropriate. I know, not always a popular notion, but it works for me.

And oh yeah, the height thing. I'm just shy of 6'. A "miniskirt" would fit me like a belt.

I voted no, lol. I'm 40, the LAST thing I want to be is mutton dressed as lamb. I'm really not into that whole high heels, mini skirt full face of make up kinda look on anyone over about 25. Not my style at all.

I'm quite happy to wear a just above the knee skirt though, in fact I just bought myself one and a nice pair of boots.

I'll be 40 or close to it when I finally reach goal, with lumpy, saggy thighs. I'm thinking I should skip the miniskirt and stick with some nice, fitted jeans, maybe with Spanx underneath to smooth out the lumps. :tongue_smilie: People will thank me for sparing them the horror.

But then, I couldn't pull off a mini even when I was the right age for it and skinny. Some women, slim or not, just aren't... sexy. Kwim? It's like dressing your Pug in a frilly bonnet. It's cuter without the hat.

At 6ft tall, I think I would scare most folks away...I always fear that I will look like a dude dressed as a woman.

Oh, and Jachut..mutton dressed as lamb is one of my FAVORite expressions. too funny.

I don't really wear skirts as my thighs rub...ow's that for sexy?

same here - at 5'1, there are no such things as mini's, which is a good thing because i've not had a dress or skirt on in at least 8yrs. got married in jeans & tee, then again it was vegas.

hubby - another story, he went online and ordered me SHORT Shorts from wicked weisel??? there is absolutely nothing attractive about those:eek:

Um, no. I have little kids and I am always bending over, sprawled on the floor, reaching for something on the ground so me in a mini skirt equals problems. Big problems!

Ha! I was a sarong CONSTANTLY too! From mid-thigh up, my legs are grotesque (to me). From mid-thigh down, I think they look great! As long as a skirt goes to mid-thigh, I think I'd wear it :-)

BooBooKitty,

I am not just 6ft tall, I am muscular and very broad shouldered...I seriously would look like a female impersonator. It's just not pretty. Trust me!

Dude,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
