The hospital just called and my surgery is set for 9:20am tomorrow morning:) I am so excited and ready start this journey. I have two small children and worry that something will go wrong and I won't wake up from surgery!!!!! Anyone else had their banding done @ John Hopkins Bayview in Maryland??

I totally understand how you feel! I was banded on 4/8 and was scared to death. I even made sure my husband knew where my life insurance policy was and wrote a letter to each of my kids.

Don't worry, you'll be just fine! If you are a person of faith, then pray.

Good luck!:rolleyes2:

I was banded on March 24th. I have a five-year-old and I felt just like you. I was afraid. One thing to remember though is that inorder to get insurance approval, you've got to go through a slew of medical clearances. If you sucessfully made it through those without fudging anything, you have nothing to worry about. You will be fine. Trust in God, have your surgery, and go on to lose the weight that's keeping you from doing all that you want to do with your children (if that's the case) and may keep you from living to see them graduate high school or college (if you are as obese as I am). Take Care and remember - PRAY!!!

Just remember, your chances of dying from this are much less than your chances of dying from childbirth and you have done that twice :-). I flew to Mexico to have my surgery and had the same thought very briefly then I just let it go and continued to focus on the bright future I will have. You will be so happy you had this done and so will your children.

Blessings,

Sally

My surgery is tomorrow too, and I can't seem to function today so I am just drinking broth and reading threads here all day while listening to music. I admit I did do some things that my husband wouldn't know to do if something happened to me -- like changing the food in the hummingbird feeders, watering the plants, etc. I'll definitely say a prayer tonight for all of us having surgery tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
