1 week post op, hungry, pains,

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded on the 14th, still dealing with gas a little. I am now getting hungry, not like I can really eat anything other than full liquids without pain, but I desire to eat more. I just want some veggies, some collard greens, green Beans, nothing big. I will be on mushy foods next week and then real foods after that. I am tired of soft cold stuff, I want some hot food. Waaah!

Trell, i feel the very same! i was banded the same day and although i no longer have much pain, i am starving! I don't really think it's "head hunger" because all my stomach does is growl. I hope for the both of us it gets better soon, but its nice to know that we are not alone!

I was banded on the 17th and I am so nauseated by the smell of chicken Soup or any type of cream soup. Just the thoughts of it makes me start to gag. I am so ready for something else. Does anybody have any suggestions >

I know what you mean about wanting something hot. I felt that way too, it was such a good feeling and did help my hunger when I had a cup of warm broth. I like the veggie flavor the best. I know it sounds silly but it worked for me!! Just that one cup was enough to help me move on to other things like stopping my skin from itching. *giggle* I hope you feel better soon. I have been banded on the 16th and have lost 9 pounds since then. I like that better than anything else!!

Take Care,

Nancy :rolleyes2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
