OregonSeaShell 1 Posted May 13, 2008 Do you remember the movie with jack black? The one where he saw the big girl as gwenneth paltrow. She said everyday she wore the fat suit she wanted to cry because of the way people looked at her. Anyway, in that movie every chair she sat in she broke and she would just get right back up, get a bigger chair and keep eating. Like THAT would ever happen. That movie actually sickened me. Fat prejudice and jokes are one of the last form of accepted prejudice. Hopefully one day it will be elimanated too. I totally agree. I don't find it funny at all. It just shows their ignorance. It's really sad. 1 brandyII reacted to this
ReadySteadyGo 8 Posted May 14, 2008 I totally agree. I don't find it funny at all. It just shows their ignorance. It's really sad. Oregon your avator made me burst out laughing at work and get ugly looks from the drenched salesmen squishing around here on the salesfloor. Speaking of drenched, here we had seven freaking inches of rain in two hours causing me to be stranded at a park parking lot where I had to pull over for three freaking hours. Sooo. I went to bed past midnight last night and had to wake up at 5 to go to work, apparently it is going to rain all day today too. The roads are still flooded but thankfully I live two minutes from work. But there have been so many accidents and people are calling in. I am beginning to wonder if I came to work for nothing. ReadySteadyGo 8 Posted May 14, 2008 In another show, Ugly Betty. they say that she is fat. America is not fat at all she is freaking beautiful. I'd kill to be the size of her in that show! Hasn't she lost weight since that show started?
Gone4Now 4 Posted May 14, 2008 I think Ugly Betty is so pretty! But, see...another stereotype. (Should I watch the show before I judge...? shrug) put glasses, braces and a few extra pounds = ugly. Poor kids who wear glasses, have braces and a few extra pounds - like me, in 9th grade. No wonder I'm so f'ed up!
Gone4Now 4 Posted May 14, 2008 I am. However I think the time has come - I was walking through the house and next thing I knew my 'drawers' were around my knees! Not too sure about 'the girls' though...I seem to lose weight stomach and butt, but leave the upper half alone. I swear I'm going to topple over... Ahh...no fair! When this is all said and done, I know I'll need a lift. Everywhere.
BLUE EYED GIRL 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Do you laugh when the movies make fun of fat people? I was watching Dodgeball over the weekend, and I LOVE that movie. But, every time I see the fat cheerleader who falls on the skinny guy I close my eyes out of embarassment for her. The movie adds in blubbery sound effects, and I just cringe. I HATE it when movies do that kind of stuff, and I was wondering if I'm alone, or too sensitive? im overweight and i found dodgeball hillarious,i think it depends how we feel as a person wether we let things get us down in life,i get more hurt at imature young peoples comments down town, and i also love that song big girl[you are beutiful]its just so catchy
Patriciann 0 Posted May 28, 2008 I cringe when I see fat people being made fun of in movies or on TV. I've been fat a good part of my life and truth be told, I have always despised fat people. I guess I was despising my own fat. But it still hurts when our "entertainment" industry makes fun of them (us?) There's a disc jockey who has a morning drive call in show. When a woman calls in he will say something like "you sound fat". I now listen to books on tape for long drives. Fortunately I am no longer in the obese category since surgery, but I will always be a fat girl and it will always hurt.
