My low profile silicone implants are my favorite part of my body. They look and feel super. I was on the fence about getting them and they're just fabulous. I haven't posted here in a while, but my Dad is a PS and did my surgeries. For what it's worth, he didn't even give me a "choice" -- he said silicone is the way to go.

I have not had implants yet, but if I have to choose I will to saline. If you get saline and they leak you are safe. The saline will just absorb into your body with no harm to you. If a silicone implant leaks... you are in trouble. Saline is lighter than silicone too. So saline is the best way to go in my opinion.

I think with the type of gel they use now, when it leaks it pretty much stays put but it's harder to tell they're leaking. Saline you can tell just by looking because they deflate. And you don't have to have them checked every 3 years like you do the silicone. But on the other hand they say they look and feel more natural, I think my saline look and feel natural maybe it has something to do with them being under the muscle I really don't know. Well guess I'll sign off because I'm starting to ramble.

My doc says silicone is the way to go. I am going in for surgery in 2 weeks and yesterday, I read all of the info that the doc sent me about risks and what could go wrong, etc.---and I am wavering!

Anyway, he wants to do silicone and place it ABOVE the muscle. Any thoughts on that? I am also having a lift. Since I am 5'1, I am going to go from a c to a full C.

I am 57 and quite active--work out almost every day.

Your opinion is appreciated.

I didn't think anyone did on top of the muscle anymore.

Karey, short term memory here, did you use saline or silicone and are you still happy with the results?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
