privatedancer7 1 Posted April 20, 2008 I have been reading this platform for months and find it very encouraging. I had the lap band done on March 21 and things went great until three days ago. I ate some mashed fried rice and a small muffin the next morning. By noon that day I could not eat or drink. The radiologist confirmed that it was an obstruction and within three hours I had an endoscopy. The endoscopy doctor said that he saw nothing there but my banddoctor believes that the rice really did the job. I am resting at home after being dismissed. I have to see the throat doctor because he feels that there is somthing going on-spasms-attributed to the esophageal problem that caused the whole thing. I would appreciate your response. georgia girl 35 Posted April 20, 2008 Hi, sorry you are having problems. I haven't experienced what you are, but I just wanted to tell you that I hope things get better soon. PS - you would probably get a better response if you posted this in the complications forum.
mytrybe 0 Posted April 20, 2008 So very sorry to hear you are having trouble ! My banding has been ok. I went for my first fill and found that the port had flipped, so I had to have surg again one month after the original surg....LOTS of pain.....the only other things I have had is vomit if my band wont allow foods....I personally would never try rice...it expands to easily. The only other foods I have found to be bad are dry hamburger pattie and scrambled eggs....I bring it up every time I try it...Take care and I wish you the best.
