yvonneb3 0 Posted April 20, 2008 some Listerine strips? They dissolve in your mouth. Or some Extra gum, no calories, sugarless, good taste and you chew..... Good luck girl, I get banded on the 23rd so I will probably be in the same boat. :tongue_smilie: yvonneb3
lkgrubb 0 Posted April 20, 2008 In search area at top right hand tyoe in Cottonmouth, plenty of people hae experienced this, some from medication at surgery, plus other causes. Hope you can find relieve. It all gets better!
Luscious 1 Posted April 20, 2008 When you reduce carbohydrate from your diet, and get most of your calories from Protein, your body converts into a state called ketosis, which basically means that your body is using its fat stores for fuel. This causes a funky breath. If you google ketosis, or look at any of the low carb diet forums, you will find more information on this. Not much you can do about the funky breath until you start taking in some good carbohydrates.
cathyalmond 1 Posted April 20, 2008 I was told that gum is taboo, because if you swallow it, it could get stuck and would need to be surgically removed, but I always have mints handy...just don't swallow it!!
lifechange82 0 Posted April 20, 2008 call your dentist before trying this product, but i used to work for a dental office, and they would sell Biotene (a mouthwash and it also comes in a gel) to cancer patients that would get dry mouth from chemotherapy, but it was recommened to other patients as well. i have seen it sold at places like rite aid, and its cheaper than at your dentists. :tongue_smilie:
Long2BFree 12 Posted April 20, 2008 You can also purchase Biotene and other mouth rinses that add moisture to your mouth at Walmart and there drug stores. They even come in a spray. I had to use them when I first got my CPAP for sleep Apnea and had a dry mouth.
Ausie 0 Posted April 20, 2008 I heard gum (maybe candy also) gives people with the lap band gas, because it is like you are swallowing air as you chew, and so its like drinking carbonated drinks, something we are not suposed to do with the band. i think it could strech the pouch. not sure about this, thats just what i heard. maybe the mouth wash can help, or try different foods and tasets that you are able to have, depends on what stage in the plan you are in (liqueds, soft foods, etc.) if its really a problem, maybe the doctor or the nutritionist might be able to suggest something. good luck
