readytoloselbs 0 Posted April 18, 2008 Hello, I got banded on 4/3 and feel good. However, today I was outside planting flowers and felt a sharp pain after about five minutes. I had to stop bending over and come in and rest. Is this normal? Has anyone else felt a sharp pain in the port area due to too much activity three weeks post op? I also still feel numb in the port area. Is this normal as well? As always, thank you for your feedback.
Neeley 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I was banded 4/2 the day before you and was sleeping on my stomach by the 4th day, but yesterday I was painting all day and last night I felt like my port was just stinging really bad, kept me up all night so yes although you are sore and I am really stinging I am beginning to think its normal
Long2BFree 12 Posted April 19, 2008 I haven't been banded yet but have had four other abdominal surgeries and can tell you from those that its not uncommon to have sharp pains after surgery. In fact, I've felt them up to a year afterwards when bending a certain way. The numbness is also normal and takes about a year to go away.
readytoloselbs 0 Posted April 19, 2008 Thank you very much for your replies. You have put my mind at ease. I felt better when I came in and sat down for a while. I will just take it easy for now.
jencys 2 Posted April 19, 2008 Pain by the port side is pretty common. I went and had a massage a few weeks after my surgery and she worked on my belly area. I think the gas gets clustered up by the port which gives the side ache. I would massage my belly area very gently every day after and never had the pain again. Good luck!
