I have been visiting the site for over six months but this is my first post.

I am scheduled to banded on May 8th. I am very excited but scared about starting the liquid diet because I am very prone to Migraines if I did not eat properly.

I will be on a liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery.

I was wondering if anyone out there has migraines if either the liquid diet prior to banding or the restricted diet afterwards intensified their migraines. If so - how did you deal with it?

Carol

I also had to do liquids 2 wks b4 surgery and it was hard, I was starving! I called my Dr. a few days into it cause I was getting really dizzy and feeling like I was going to fall down so I was told to add 2 low cal high Protein Snacks, like 100 cals or less. It helped, but I was still starving. For the 2 wks after surgery I couldnt even get the liquids down, and was not hungry at all so that was a breeze!

Welcome. You'll be given shakes that will provide the essential nutrients you need. If you find you're getting too hungry, call your surgeon's office and ask to speak with a health care professional. They will usually give you an additional one or two foods to tide you over.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
