I have also been doing my measurements and I have also lost more inches than pounds.

Bea1128, I start nursing school in August! I hope to be at goal or at least pretty close to it by then. I can't imagine having to wear all white at this size!

Thank you all for your support It really means a lot to me. I should start measuring just see what happens. I have been on third shift and that doesnt help me to get in the gym because I am always exuasted when I work thirds. I am going to swing shift and that is a little better. I am going to try to lose as much as I can before Xmas for a preasent to my self...

Carrie - congrats on nursing school too! I know what you mean about all white. I have so much more energy now, and I know I'm gonna need it!

Firedad - Starting to measure yourself, excellent! Also, you look great! I just looked at your pics and I can totally see a difference! Now as far as you being tired and gaining, you work third shift my friend! Now it all makes sense! That's a hard shift to work and function normally. Don't beat yourself up. That's probably something you can't always control. The hubby works that shift and he's tired all the time. The best time for him to workout is right before he goes in, but most of the time it doesn't happen. Just do the best you can.

Hope everyone else is doing well. My allergies are killing me which causes me to have trouble keeping most foods down except liquids and Soups. I'm out of Mucinex, gotta get some tomorrow! I just really want a piece of chicken or a salad. Tired of soup!

Hello everyone! I just found this group for people in their thirties. I hope it starts getting a lot busier. I'm still fairly new to this site. I'll be 31 on Jan. 4th and I was banded on Oct. 30th, 2008. I can't wait to talk and hear from you all about everything. Good luck everyone out there!

Firedad - I totally understand about working off shifts post band. I work 12-hr night shifts as a nurse and those first nights back are a killer. I'm usually up for over 24 hrs total - so I know I take in more calories those days - but I have to add an extra meal and sometimes an extra snack to keep my Protein levels up and give me enough energy to stay alert.

On top of that - nurses are known to have Snacks at the nurses station frequently - which I really have to watch.

Good Luck!

Carrie - Congratulations on nursing school - I love being a nurse. It is very rewarding and in this day and age you can't beat the job stability.

Well monday - I turn 34 so I belong here for awhile

Thanks! I can't wait to get started in school. Right now I work as a medical assistant in a doctor's office and I really like it, so I'm sure I'll love being a nurse.

Congrats on nursing school Carrie! What made you go into the medical profession?

It's just something that I have always done. I have been in the medical profession since I was 16. I started out working in a nursing home. I have been a CNA and a phlebotomist and I have been a medical assistant since 2002. I just can't see myself doing anything else.

Nurses have my full respect. I cant even think about how much patients it takes to be a nurse and deal with all you have to deal with. I guess as a Fire fighter I just have a thing for nurses. Thank you for all you do!

Hey Everyone! Hope you are all well.

kcmagu - what kind of nursing do you do? I start nursing school in January and I just hope I can stay away from the junk food! My plan is to be prepared with healthy Snacks and such, but you know how that can go.

Bea - I do know exactly how it can go. being prepared is the best way - there are always times when I find myself grabbing something mindlessly and it's like - what the heck did I do that for (Mind over Mouth!)

I'm an ICU nurse - I love it!. I'll help in any way I can. Good Luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
