Pix 4 Posted April 18, 2008 Checking my bank statement online, I noticed two exact (and I mean down to the cents!!) transactions. My mind was like what the hell?!?!? So I called the bank and asked them about it (one was pending so it only said "transaction"). I swear the lady is still laughing at me even though its been 10 minutes since I hung up the phone red faced. Went to lowes (its my toy store, I am a weird woman I know) and got some more lawn care stuff. More seeds for my flower beds etc. Came out to 61.67, checking my bank I saw that amount twice. I was like who the hell is doing this to me?!?! I had forgotten I got two new bras from Fredericks (only online place that has CUTE bra's in my size) and with S&H and Tax it was for the same SAME amount. She looked it up and told me the pending was my new pretties. Talk about red faced . Next time I will wait until its no longer pending so I can see who/what it is from and just dispute it then if its wrong. I am still red in the face over that.:blushing::frown:
mbanja 1 Posted April 18, 2008 Dont feel foolish at all. At least is wasn't for porn or sex toys. (Not that there is a problem with that and at least most places have the decency to disguise the name) Hell she is a woman she buys panties and bras too! It is good that you are on top of you credit. You should be proud that you monitor it so closely! That helps majorly reduce fraud!!!! Fredricks isn't kinky or bad, it is just like victoria secrets! Hell that is better than me cuz I get my stuff at Walmart. It sucks having to have a teenage boy scanning your granny panies!!! Thank god for self checkout!! One day I will get the courage to go to fredricks or victoria secrets. HOPEFULLY SOON! I mean I don't actually wear grannies, but I have to get some kinda underware that wont disappear under my apron of bellyfat! HA there you go you can laugh at that. Every time I walk past victoria secrets and see those cute undies on the mannequins I think to myself "dang I bet if I put those on they would immediately be swollowed up." LOL, its good to laugh at yourself sometimes!

Daisalana 33 Posted April 18, 2008 That's not too terrible!! When I was at college, since my address changed a lot, I had my credit card bill go to my parents' house. I paid it online, but the physical copies went to them. They opened it every month, and now I'm not sure what for, it never helped anything. I guess they looked for any fraudulent activity.. and I never bought anything out of the ordinary so it didn't matter. Well I order sex toys ONCE.. ONCE (well many times now, but at the time.. ONCE), and the place said discreet billing, shipping, etc. I get a call from my mom a month later about some "Sex Shop Purchase". Sigh. I called the sex place and threw a fit, they made an 'error' and offered me a 15% discount on my next purchase and swore it wouldn't happen again. I refused to purchase from them again for that error.. But that still looms over my head. At least you didn't know the people!

Apples2 19 Posted April 18, 2008 I have had a similar red faced banking experience. My son lived in Alaska and kept one an account at our local bank "just in case" he would need it. For our farm we use printed computerized checks. Well, had to run to town one day to pay a bill but could not print the check at home b/4 hand cuz accrued interest needed to be figured out. On my way out the door I just grabbed an old book of checks (so I thought) and went to town (without my glasses) and made a payment of $2000. Went into the bank about a week later and a loud-mouthed teller yelled across the lobby that I had better contact my son cuz he was overdrawn $2000. I just knew it had to be a mistake on the bank's part. Took them a week to get a copy of that canceled check. Yep, my signature. I grabbed my son's checkbook by mistake to make my payment. I am sure the teller still thinks I'm a dumb ass but six years later do not go to her teller line because she has no better sense than to yell sensitive info across the bank lobby. Headhunter 6 Posted April 18, 2008 Nothing to feel foolish about there. That stuff happens!
dreamsize8 0 Posted April 18, 2008 Being that I work at a hotel we get compliants from guests about this I guess your using a debit card? When you use a debit its gonna auth for the amount first to see if you are gonna have it. then its gonna charge the amount. So example I got something for $50. card company auth the card for $50 then charge the card for $50. So when you look at the account you see $100 taken out. So it will take about 2 or 3 buisness days for the frst auth to come off. They do this as a security to make sure you have the money in you account since its a bank account. Pix 4 Posted April 18, 2008 Dream, actually it was two totally separate transactions. Just happened to be the same exact amount.
Wheetsin 714 Posted April 18, 2008 Yeah don't feel foolish. Better to walk away humble then being ripped off, or having a mistake you might be able to fix. I've been on both sides - someone swiped one of our debit card numbers and signed up for over $7,000 worth of porn subscriptions. I don't often check our account, but this was one time we did. Balance wasn't what it should have been, and in scrolling through I see some REALLY weird website names. Eek, but our bank as wonderful about it. And on the flip side, we have our bills on autopay through online banking so we don't even have to think about it, but there are like 2 I still process through the company's website because it's easier for record-keeping. One of these is our mortgage. One time I thought my submission wasn't going through because I wasn't getting the usual confirmation. Come to find out, their system was buggy, but the payments were still being processed -- just without confirmation. I paid our mortgage 9 times that month. Seeing the duplicate transactions for the exact same amount is the only thing that clued me in, otherwise I'd not have caught it.
green 6 Posted April 19, 2008 I never feel foolish anymore. I just tell 'em that that it is all part of being blonde (which I am). This gets them laughing. Thank gawd for blonde jokes, eh. My screw-ups have been so much easier and fun to justify ever since.
