Day One on Pre Op liquid diet

My doctor is requiring me to be on an all liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery and that starts today.

Did anyone else have to do the same? Any recommendations for what you ate and good Protein supplements?

Virtually everyone has a pre-op diet of some kind, and 2 weeks is one of the more common durations. But even liquid diets are done differently. Sometimes it's liquid, period. Often it's sugar-free, Clear Liquids. Did your surgeon not give you a book of liquids that are allowed?

I wouldn't take the Protein supplements unless your surgeon told you to. Most of the time they're not sugar-free, nor carb-free, nor clear, etc.

Yeah, they gave us some samples. We are to have 60-100 grams of Protein so it is not just clear liquid, however we are carb limited so we do have to watch carbs and sugar.

I used the Atkins shake this morning! Thanks

Yes it's true everyone has to go on some sort of liquid diet. I was on it for 2 weeks drinking the Protein Shake, then 2 days before surgery I went on a clear liquid diet. It is hard (because were fat and we love to eat) but it is all worth it in the end. Just be sure to stick with it and don't give up.
