I have a very loving family but still feel alone in this process.

It will be great to have someone to talk to that will be going through the same stages at the same time.

I'm being banded by Dr. Oliak in Orange County, Ca. Where will yours be done? I'm very nervous about the whole thing. I'm not worried about the actual surgery, but the pain after and all the new changes -PBing, getting stuck, etc. Does anyone else feel the same?

Hey everyone, let's keep in touch.

Where are you all having your surgeries? Do your doctors require a pre op diet? Mine just says to drink liquids after 3:00 pm the day before.

I am feeling more supported than I have in a long time being on the board with all of ya'll.

I am having my done by Dr. Huerta in TN @ 9:00 in the morning:thumbup:.

I was on the induction phase of adkins for over a month. I am currently on two whey Protein (adkins or slim fast low carb) shakes a day. On Saturday, I will switch over to only liquids. I have had a few slips:eek: but do not feel guilty about it.:rolleyes2:

Hey, I'm on the 28th also, went for my final weigh today and got my final instructions. Now I have to go on phase I of south beach for the rest of the week. My emotions are in high gear. I have been through the process before and had the surgery cancelled at the last minute because on lung problems and of course I want to be safe than sorry but I also want a chance at a healthier life.

Good luck to everyone!

Do your doctors require a pre op diet?

Yes, and I'm currently struggling with headaches, irritably and bad breath on my 6th day of the Optifast Protein shakes (I am physically shaking too....)... no food allowed not even Soups just fat free broth.

However, I am going to hang in until the end with my purse full of breath mints and minty gum :blushing:.

On a good note, I have lost 8 lbs :scared2:since I've started the Optifast.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
