"That time of the month"

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any of you ladies experience an increase in tightness of your bands during that time of the month? If so, how far in advance do you notice it? I started noticing a tightening effect about a week before. Now this morning I could barely get down my morning cup of coffee. How do your eating habits change during this time? Any feedback would be helpful

I have had 2 fills at this point. I do not have restriction yet and do not notice a difference in my band. I have not had a pb or had anything get stuck either. I do however become ravenous during my period. I get so hungry or maybe I just don't deal with my hunger as well. I also can gain up to 6 lbs during this time. Within 5 days of starting my period I will lose it all and then some. It is a bad time of month no two ways about it.

Yep, I definitely notice a difference, especially the past few months.

It can vary - sometimes its a few days prior (like 4 or so) - sometimes its same day (like today I started, and I can only get down Soup, where I could eat steak last night lol).

Tomorrow I'll be super tight too, then the next day, I'll be able to eat a horse and will crave chips, chocolate and coke. The three deadly C's lol.

I eat like a horse the week before then the day I get my period I get so tight I'd pb everything until I realized that this is happening every month no matter how tight I am.

I definitely get tight at TOM. Lately my TOM has gotten irregular, and my last cycle was more than a week ago and I am still PGing. I think I may be heading into menopause and that's the cause of the irregular TOM, it stayed fairly regular durring the fist 8 months after banding, so I don't think the band is the cause. But it's been wierd this month, I only had 16 days between TOM and now my restriction has lasted over 10 day (usually only 2-3 days). I haven't had a fill since November, but I'm tighter than I've ever been.

I too have the ToM syndrome. I know it's coming, I try to pay attention to the tightness factor, but there is no rhyme or reason to how early or how long. I have finally gotten to the point where I recognize the tight feeling and just do Soups until the tightness passes.

I figure that is part of the band experience. The tightness doesn't last long, but it's fairly regular with the ToM. I hope this answers your questions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
