Newbie - 6 months out from lapband surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello! My name is Amy and I had my lapband surgery in October 2007. So far I have lost 47 lbs. Right now I am at a difficult stage, I am having trouble getting past this phase and on to losing 43 more lbs! Any suggestions or advice?

change up your excercise, mess with your protien intake, write down what you are eating, making sure not to go over what calories you want to. It is easy to go over without meaning to without writing it down. I was banded in Nov o7 and have had quite a few stalls. I am at 47lbs and just keep plugging away.

Hang in there your plateau will pass with patience.

I was banded in October also. I stopped losing after about 43 lbs. Went back for another fill and started watching everything I ate. I had been drinking gatorade and juice, not even thinking about the calories, had been drinking slimfast and eating Protein Bars which was basically a candy bar. I thought I was following directions. Nope! Stopped doing that and began writing down what I ate and counting calories. Finally started losing again. Now I am down 49lbs. wish it would go faster but I think when the weather warms up and I can get out of the house and move around it will start to come off again a little better. Hang in there we didn't put it on overnight so I guess it won't come off overnight.:tt1:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
