Sabotage myself every time!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just feel like I need to post something to vent a little frustration with myself! I know and have known for a few weeks that in order for me to get surgery I need to lose 5% of my body weight... I easily lost most of the weight except for two pounds... two pounds you say no big deal, well you know what... it's turning out to be a huge pain in the ass! I knew last Friday that I had to lose it and I have lost 2lbs a hundred times in a hundred different ways really really quick.... For some reason this time the scale goes down and I think I'm in the clear - I can eat that and of course it's back up the next day... So I did pretty good this week and the scale has moved down and for some reason this afternoon at work I got myself worked up thinking I really wanted chocolate! Big mistake! Idiot! My appointment is now less than 24 hours away and I have just devoured an entire medium size Lindt chocolate (hollow) bunny! Tell me what I am thinking? Why would I do this to myself when I know for sure that I have been wanting this for almost a year now??? Why would I let myself do something so ridiculous? I will be crushed if tomorrow the scale isn't down! Ugh... feel like crying... how can I be so dumb?

Stressing out about your boo boo is only going to make it worse. Stress causes weight gain (I have a huge tummy to show for that!), so forgive yourself and move on.

Drink a lot of Water, go for a walk, just have some broth for your meals until your appointment and you should be fine.

You can do this!!

Thank you everyone for your kind words... I'm starting to feel a little better and yes tonight I am definitely only having a shake for dinner and taking my dog for an extra long walk!

Thanks again!

Shannon

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
