Can anyone feel the tube leading to Port?

Recommended Posts

I went for my first check up today - 10 days post banding. All is healing well. I asked my doctor about a 2nd bump I can feel under my skin about 2 inches above my port. She said its the tube - and that its normally deeper so you can't feel it.

Can anyone else feel their tube that leads to the port?

Doctor didn't indicate it was anything to be worried about - I'm just wondering if its common?

Thanks

Luscious

Interesting! I'll have to ask my doctor about this, because I can feel something similar. I can feel my port just about any time that I am lying down but I can only feel this when I am lying on my right side, letting my stomach muscles fully relax and my belly kind of spilling forwards. I always thought it was the band itself but it is exactly where you describe it - about 2 inches higher than the port and slightly to the left for me - so maybe it is the tube I'm feeling?

That is funny because I went in for my fill last week and the doctor could not even find my tube. We ended up having to try it in front of an Xray machine and he still never found it. By the time he got done jabbing me and poking me I got so sick that I passed out so I rescheduled the fill for next Monday. Has anyone else had this type of problem?:)

I've never heard of that before. My doctor does all of his under endoscopy so he can find everything and not have to "guess" just were the port is. Plus they give you an x-ray of your band. It's like they give you when you have an ultrasound. I've got 2 so far and I keep them with me to show people that are interested in having the surgery. It's neat!! It's like showing off a pre-pic of your baby or something. I don't feel my tubing at all. I guess mine is deep in there or floating just right so I cannot feel it.

That is pretty cool. I got to see a picture of my band after it was in place, but they kept it and didn't give me a copy. All I know is that I am scared to death to go back on Monday. I don't ever want to have that feeling again and I sure don't want to pass out again. My worst fear is that they will never be able to do an adjustment and I would have wasted all that money for nothing. My insurance wouldn't cover it so I have to pay myself, that is a big chunk of money to pay out to never have an adjustment done.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
