I am trying different Protein Drinks to find something I like (I am not being banded until May 12th). I just got some samples from Unjury and it says to mix with Water. That in no way sounds good to me, strawberry water?? My diet sheet says I can have milk upto 1%, is it ok to mix the Unjury with milk instead of water? I just can't stomach drinking this mix with water. Any help would be great!!!!

Yep....you can mix with milk----but not usually in the first post op phase. It is for Clear liquids only.

You can use it with milk, yogurt etc, for Protein shakes during the second phase---full liquids.< /strong>

For the first stage of Clear Liquids I used the Zero Carb Ispopure drinks--they have a koolaid like drink that is high in Protein. Not the yummiest---but man they helped me feel so much better!!

Good plan to pretaste and plan for your post op diet!!!

Good Luck!

Some of the Unjury flavors (Chocolate and Vanilla) are mixed with milk. Many people mix the strawberry Shorbert with Crystal Light Lemonade and really like it. I haven't tried it yet so I haven't formed an opinion. Personally I like Medifast shakes best followed by Low Carb Slim Fast (out of the low carb Protein drinks) though I find after a week of drinking most of the others I've learned to like them and don't feel like they taste too bad.

Actually, my doctor allowed full liquids for pre-op and post-op (starting the day of surgery), so there may not be a restriction on using milk to mix with the unjury. If your doctor has you on full liquids, this should be fine. If you're restricted to clear liquids, then by all means, follow your doctor's instructions. And if you're not sure, give their office a call.

BTW, I love chocolate Unjury mixed with skim milk, 1T Peanut Butter and ice!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
