I am officially a bandster! I had my surgery yesterday and come home from the hospital today. I am feeling a little sore at the moment. I didn’t take any pain meds today for fear of them making me nauseous! I don’t have anti-nausea meds at home like they do in the hospital. It’s fine though. I think I am mange without the pain meds. I do, however, have to give myself a shot today. Haven’t done that yet so it could be interesting! It’s still hard to take deep breaths and I am using my little tool they gave me for that. (Can’t for the life of me remember it’s name now) I seem to be getting better at it so I guess that means things are looking up! I don’t have any gas pains but from reading everyone’s posts that seems to hit a lot on the 3rd day which will be tomorrow. I am hoping I won’t have to deal with that though!

Hi All:

I was banded today! Besides the gas pains/cramps, I am not in any pain. Also, I feel no pain for the incisions at all. Is this normal or just lucky? Either way, I am starting a new phase of my life. I am both scared/excited. My whole life revolved around food so I am cautiously optimistic that I can make this transition effectively.

Be well.:rolleyes2:

i think some people have pains around the incisions and some don't.. That's what i take from reading people's posts. I do have some pain. I am thinking that i just might try the pain meds. My incisions also itch. I wonder if that's normal!?! Just survived giving myself my first shot so that's good news! lol

Thanks everyone for the congrats! I just love this site and all the support you receive from everyone! :rolleyes2:

I got mine on Monday!

I definitely have some incision pain, but nothing a little bit of pain meds can't handle. And thank god, the gas pains have been manageable.

Excited to be on the journey!

cONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO HAD THE BAND! The part that yall might start hurting on which is where I am hurting at is where the port is. It won't let you bend that much to sit. At least this is the only pain I am in right now. I was banded on Monday and today is my 2nd day home and I took my shower this morning, I felt ALOT better but the gas and sharp pain by my part is killing me..I hope Everyone does great on it..Take care!

The pain meds aren’t too bad, didn’t get nauseous once from them. But I can totally sympathize with the itchy incisions lol. I have one that drives me completely batty!

Itchy is normal and annoying if anything.

Don't let your pain get too out of hand or you will be miserable and your body will have a hard time getting rest if you are fighting it too much. Can you take something other than meds that make you nauseated like Tylenol?

If you don't mind me asking, what are the shots for?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
