So my doctor has me on a boat load of Vitamins and minerals. I take about 8 pills every 12 hours. I have been able to swallow them up until my first fill on Monday. I was just wondering what Vitamin regimen does your doctor have you on? Please list the names amount that you have to take daily and if you've been able to find then in liquid form or chew-able. I am having to crush mine and I have it. Thanks!

Well, that sounds a bit conservative to me. Given the place you're at right now and the toughness to eat certain foods, that could throw your natural Vitamin intake down. 8 pills in a 12 hour period is a little over the top, though. Are you sure they're all Vitamins?

My surgeon doesn't recommend alot more than just a Multi Vitamin broke in 1/2 take 1/2 in the morning 1/2 at night.

He told me that it wasn't entirely necessary but I could take

1 B-complex and 2 chromium

1 B-122 Calcium

If I felt tired.

Mine are all in pill form since I haven't had surgery yet.

2 chewable kids multi's and 2 cal. 1 am than 1 pm

It is my understanding that the body can only absorb 500-600 mg of cal at a time so more than that is a waste.

:confused2: So my next question is I wonder why all my surgeons patients have to take sooo much when it looks as though many of you don't have to take that much.

Unless there is another reason why he is having you do that, there is NO reason in the world why you should be taking that much. In fact, that's kind of dangerous because it is possible to overdose yourself on Vitamins. I would talk to the doctor and have him tell you so you can tell us why.

i am supposed to be taking 2 multis and 3 Calcium daily, along with a pill to prevent gall stones. none of these pills can be taken at the same time as any other pill. it's super annoying, especially because i am eating about 1500 cals a day, and so i am not malnourished. so, i am taking only 1 multi and 1 Calcium a day. i don't need more calcium than that because i am drinking milk and eating yogurt.

the thing is, the Vitamin instructions from my doc are the same for banding and bypass except that bypass is supposed to take a B12 pill also. but since i don't have part of my intestines bypassed, and i am able to absorb all of my nutrients, why do i need to take as many pills as a bypass patient?

sorry, this is sort of a sore subject for me. i got yelled at by the nutritionist at my last post op. oh well.

I take a powedered multi called ViteMinMix by a company called genestra.....I have an aversion/reaction to the glue that is used to hold most Vitamins together, so the powder works well (add it to a glass of milk) I also take Vitamin D which is in drop form, and B12 sublingual, although i am considering switching to the shots. I also take Omega 3 fish oils, and flaxseed oil. These were all recommended by a Naturopathic Doctor, based on my specific health needs.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
