So... yesterday I had my 2-week post-op meeting with the Doc. All's well. I wanted to kiss the guy when he said I could have my staples out! Bless him! (Them things ITCH like almighty, cripes!) The nice nurses took them all out (with very little pain- whew!) and slapped on some iodine and steri-strips.

Unfortunately, all but one of these lil' strips has fallen off. Already. Do I need to worry about slapping on some band-aids or somethin' to protect the sutures at this point? The sutures look pretty good, considering I previously resembled Frankenstein's tummy, without any leakage or anything, but... yep. Any thoughts? :crying:

I never had to have sutures removed. They told me to keep the steri strips on until the either fell off by themselves or started curling up and then I could gently pull them off. Being the paranoid person I can be....I used bandaids for like a month afterwards cause I was so afraind I'd do something to mess up my band. Good luck and hope everything goes great for you!

My doctor used the glue. I didn't have to worry about any of that. I kept the gauze on for two weeks and that was it.

I had steristrips on my incisions and to be honest I have no idea what was under them (I think dissolving stitches on the inside but no idea if he used glue or what) as when they came off there were no visible stitches or glue or anything. I had my steri-strips on for just over a week when they started to peel up and he told me that if they fell off or came off soon it wouldn't be a big deal.

If you think that the areas look like they are maybe partially open or anything then bandaging it up I'm sure would not hurt at all.

I pulled the steri-strips off after 4 days because the itch was driving me insane. With the big port incision, I put on a patch for 2 days after that but the little incisions as pretty much healed so I didn't bother.

I was told they would fall off by themselves, but that apparently wasn't happening. So I finally pulled mine off after 3 weeks.

I pulled mine at 6 days, I have 2 small incisions that are still a little pink. I let them air all day and then at night put a little polysporin with a bandaid.

Mine Had Fallen Off And When I Went To My Post Op Appt It Was Fine, However A Week Later The Port Incision Opened Up On Me Down To The Internal Sutures. I Went To Ther And Had Them Stitch It Back Up, Which Was Ok Per The Surgeon. Thankfully Having Been An Emt Out Of My Local Hosp The Doc Had No Problem Re Suturing It For Me. He Did Say That Steri Strips On An Area As Tough As The Stomach And That Big Of An Area Was Stupid. I Had To Agree With Him. He Had Said He Knows About Not Wanting To Have A Scar But I Wound Up With A Bigger One As A Result Of It Not Being Sutured To Begin With. Im At Work Right Now But When I Get Home I Will Post A Pic. Personally I Could Care Less About The Scar, As Long As It Had Healed With No Problems Ie Infection Etc , That Was My Biggest Concern. But Some People Dont Want A Scar And Thats Their Choice. But Will Post A Pic Later On

I had some internal self dissolviing stitches and the glue. Two days after my surgery I took a shower and the strips came off permanently. It's important to let air get to them to allow healing, least that how it was for me and I had no problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
