Hi, My name is Victoria! My doctors office called yesterday and they got my approval from my insurance:cool: This is really something that I want to do, but now that I got the apporoval I am really scared. I go for a pre-op class on Friday and to schedule my surgery:ohmy: When I first started thinking about the surgery I found this site but never joined, today I joined because I think that I really need some support. One of the things I'm scared of is that I really haven't been getting ready for the BIG day, by practicing the eating habits and such. Does anyone have any good adivce to offer me. I would really like to hear some feedback.

Thanks!

Victoria

I was really scared too. I have a husband and two children and going under made me nervous. I can tell you that it has been worth it. I am close to a 30lb loss and feel so much better already! Stay on this site and post when you need a little uplift. It really got me through that first post op week.

Will your dr. have you on a pre op diet? I was on liquids for 2 wks before surgery.

Congratulations!

Dee

Hi Victoria! I'm new here as well, but I'm in a similar boat as you. Just got my approval last week, and soon to schedule my surgery. However, I'm so excited to start the rest of my life, and be able to live it as a normal human being. Be encouraged! This is the first day of the rest of your life.

Thanks for the wonderful welcome:redface: I will be using Dr. McEwen. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about him, that don't stop me from being really nervous though:ohmy: I am from a little town called Alexandria. Its nice to see that there are other Hoosiers on here. Can't wait to talk to you more.

Hey Victoria!

I'm also from Indiana and using Dr. McEwen!!

I just scheduled all of my appointments like an hour ago haha. I'm so excited and scared!!!

I'm planning on having surgery the weekend of August 18th, right before school starts back up! :)

When are you having yours? Or maybe I just didn't see it in the upper replies. Maybe we'll be right around the same time??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
