Sick of losing the same damn 3 pounds!

Recommended Posts

The last week and a half has been maddening. Monday-195, Tuesday-196, Wednesday-194, Thursday, 196... AAARRGGH! I'm not doing anything different! I swear I'm losing these same three pounds for the fifth time now! Get off and stay off already! Why is my scale doing this to me? What can I do to get off this nasty ride?

Aaarrghh! How frustrating! Maybe you do need to do something different? Maybe add two or three hundred calories one or two days a week to confuse your body? I've heard that works really well. (Won't it be great if eating MORE is the answer to your problem?) =)

I really do feel your pain. I weighed 309 for one brief shining moment about a week ago and I haven't seen it since. You can't make me change my signature though! I think I might need to take my own advice and eat more calories today. They have been super low.

kjeter:

I know exactly how you feel. I've been flipping up and down with the same two pounds since 4/4/08. It's a bit aggrevating. I've even tried increasing my exercise, and that's not helping.

Having my gallbladder out this Thursday, so I can already see 5 pounds of Fluid coming on - uggh!

If you figure out the trick to getting past those three pounds, please share.

I so wanted to be under 200 for my one year anniversary of when I started dieting, but seeing how it's 5 pounds away and I've only got 8 days, not looking good. Maybe he'll give me great pain meds so that I sleep for four days - not gonna happen, oh well!

Keep on trying, and know that I will to.

Take care.

Sue

I have been stuck at a certain weight twice since being banded. I finally figured out that I have to shake things up with my diet & exercise. I will eat differently for a few days and increase the exercise just to break through the plateau. Also, maybe you shouldn't weigh yourself every day. I know it is hard not to do it, but it will make you crazy beating yourself up over a pound or even a few ounces here and there.

My friend is a nutritionist and had me experiment with this. She had me weigh myself every hour I was awake during the day. I consistently had different weights going up as much as 2.5 pounds at certain times. She suggests only weighing yourself once a week but if need be, then every other or every third. It was hard to get used to but it does help to not stress about a few ounces here and there.

That happens to me, too. I bat around the same 2 pounds, then go down. Then bat around a new 2 pounds. It's maddening!!!

I am glad to hear that other people are experiencing this. I thought it was me. A friend of mine and I went through the procedure about 2 weeks apart from each other and she has not experienced this yet. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. For the last month I have been weighing myself once a week and there has still been a couple of weeks that my weight does not change at all. I feel like I am too early in the game to be plateau-ing. I dont drink any sodas at all (not even diet) and did not pick up a lot of the habbits that i had before surgery. I work out at least 3 times a week and more if my schedule allows me to. I get frustrated but after reading this i can see that i am not alone and i just need to keep on pushing myself foward. We can do this!

I do that too! Makes me so mad! I am obsessed...weighin myself every morning...can't help it...to break it....I either know I am eating way too low calories or I just go on Clear Liquids for 2 days....it works like a charm....I hate having to eat more though...because its like I don't have a middle ground I either dont eat enough calories or I tend to overeat...but then again that's why we are all here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
