New and very excited!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone... I'm new here so I will probably have a million questions  I decided to look into Lap Band surgery after trying soooo many other things for weight loss. I go for the seminar on April 23rd I'm very excited about it. I'm hoping after that it won't take long to have the actual surgery.

I told my my boyfriend I was having it done he thinks I'm crazy LOL but his thing is always "babe I love you how you are but whatever makes you happy" He's so sweet, I don't know what he'll think when I'm skinny  He's normal sized for a guy but he'll tell you, he doesn't like skinny women says he needs someone who can keep him warm at night

So any advice from anyone? How long did it take you all to actually have the surgery? Once you made the decision?

I think it'll depend on whether you're self pay vs. what your insurance requires, and the tests that your surgery center requires. I went to the seminar and was banded about a month later, so I was happy it didn't take too long.

Good luck!!

My wait time has been short. I started the process in January and I will be banded May 12th. It could have been as early March but I wanted to wait until I graduated from college. I don't really have any advice because I haven't been banded, just follow the doctors orders and I think you will fine. My husband has the same feelings as your boyfriend...I don't think he will know what to do when I am thin. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. Keep us updated.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
