After 3 months band got tight

Recommended Posts

It was the wierdest thing. I have been at 7 cc's, with a 14 cc band, for almost 3 months and out of no where I felt like the band was tight. During the night I was regurgitating, getting badly stuck even when I drank, and it got to the point that I couldn't even swallow. It was literally one meal to the next. I had to go down to 6.5 cc's and now it's perfect again.

I've been tight before but over 7 cc's, and usually a week or two after the fill. They said it's normal and it does happen. Anyone else have this?

I've heard of others having this. I wish mine would get tighter. The last fill I got didn't do crap for me. But, they wouldn't add more because I'm giong to be gone on a trip and they were afraid that it might get tighter while I was gone and they wanted to play it safe. So, now I'm just wide open. UGG.

I'm glad you were able to get a little out and perfect again. I do wonder why this happens though. Hopefully one of the more seasoned bandsters will tell us.

Mine has gotten tighter. In fact, I am going to need to go back in and get it unfilled more. As I have lost weight I have needed less of a fill. WEIRD!

Yes, I couldn't hold down solids. My doctor said that sometimes the stomach lining can thicken adding additional restriction. The only cure is a slight unfill. Glad you are okay.

Yes! It happened to me!

Had an unfill in January and around 3 months later I got super tight...tighter than before the unfill. So much so that often I'd spew even liquids.

It was stress related. Went to my doc and was told that stress upsets the digestive system yada yada.

My stressor: my daughter turned 18 in March and lives on campus and is learning how to manage money, keep schedules, etc.....

And that was about the time I started spewing up liquids. :)

It's weird. Yesterday, I could hardly eat anything and even threw up yet today, I ate two pieces of turkey sausage and a scrabled egg. No problem?

coolcrystal, since you are wide open how much do you eat? Do you keep it at small portions or are you eating until you are full? No judgement here I was just wondering..... I have very little restriction and I find if I eat very little I am hungry like an hour after I eat. Feeling very frustrated I was banded 12/6 have been filled twice and have only lost 20 pounds... only 3 since Jan. and can't get in for another fill until June 11. Oh and I can eat anything I want.

i do that song, sometimes i can eat a whole egg then the next day not a bite. Or i can eat a nice size peice of meat, next day one bite of meat. I just go with the flow since that seems to be what alot of ppl report on here. I just hate the days when I cant eat much at all. I get hungry!!! I've never been not hungry yet. The band works i'm down 75lbs since nov 2007, however i do get hungry. Good Luck all!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
