Today is 1 month since surgery. My total loss is 14 pounds no pre op diet. I have no restriction on band. I can pretty much eat anything. But I don't. My first fill is May 16. Until then I am on my own as far as what I put in my mouth. This is where the will power and commitment comes into play. I will succeed.

I'm going to weigh myself again tomorrow (i'm not doing it everyday) and i'm a week out of surgery and down probably 15ish. i'm expecting to gain a few when i start mushies tomorrow...not going to stress...but since i'll be on mushies then soft solids for the next 6 weeks i'm expecting to lose quite a bit. i can't imagine not losing then i'll only be eating 3 4oz meals. lol that's like..nothing.

Hello Brandy:

I lost 19 lbs my first month after the band. It was difficult for me

when I was on the liquids for two weeks after the band. I felt like

I was starving just on liquids. However, at week 4 my doctor said

I could have a soft scrambled egg with cheese! I felt like I was

cheating! Then after that I ate baby food. It was healthy

and had lots of Vitamins. I managed to do o.k. and still was losing

an average of 3 lbs. per week.

Since then I am now into my second month with the band. I am

still losing. I have found that while eating out to get my to-go-

box when they bring my meal. That way I don't eat too much.

I pack away most of my meal. The next day I split that into

two more meals. So far I have done well on those smaller

portions. Also it saves money!

Good luck to you!

Judie

I lost 13 pounds the first month. Was banded 2/19/2008. Lost 5 pounds the second month and the scale has hardly budged! But I am working out and need to watch what I'm eating a little closer.

sil, I had to do six months of pre-op dietician appointments. If your dietician requests a food journal you should definitely do that.

That being said, I never had to keep a food journal, in fact I refuse to do this. I am not going to let food run my life anymore, and for me this would only exemplify that. But hey, it works for some people, so give it a try. Whatever works for you to keep you in line, you should do that, as long as it is not unhealthy for you of course.

I did not lose weight pre-surgery, in fact I gained about 10 lbs. My surgeon still did the surgery, then again I didn't have a large enough BMI for him to worry too much. You really might want to ask your doctor about this, it really is important information for you to know!

Right on, Lil Miss Band-Aid! I groaned when the nurse said that we would have to keep a daily diet journal, including a break down of everything we eat into Protein, sugar, and calorie categories. Many diets that I have done in the past required this, and I am done with that.

My problem has always been portion size due to hunger, and I feel my food choices aren't bad at all. If my hunger is curbed, which it is, and if I am eating smaller portions, which I am, then I will lose weight, and I am. I do add up the Protein roughly, but it doesn't rule my life. I got the lap-band to eat less, and it is doing its job.

I had surgery on 3/31/08. The first month I lost 16 pounds. I've lost 26 pounds altogether counting pre-op and since the one month time period.

There should be another option - I gained weight during the first month. And the second. I didn't start losing until the fourth month.

Hello! I was banded on 9/24, exactly 4 weeks ago today. I have not lost anything! When was your first fill and how much did you loose after the first fill? Thanks!!

I lost about 17 pounds, but I would have to say about 5 of that was Water retention. I used to have very puffy and swollen lower legs, ankles and feet. After two weeks, the puffiness started to go down. I think it was all the water I was drinking, staying away from alcohol and not eating salty or fried foods.

I lost 8lbs the first week but after I started eating regular food again I quicky gained it all back. I just had my second fill because the first fill 2 weeks prior left me with absolutely NO restriction. I got my second fill on Wed and I am hoping to finally have a weight loss after this surgery.

Still have a week to go to make it a full month but so far I've lost 37 lbs, my body is in shock I think as it hasn't been given less than a 1000 calories since BIRTH! I'm heavier than most so the first lbs will come off faster but Ohh those last 75 or so might drive me insane!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
