Banded 4/14 Doing good.....

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded yesterday, having a lot of gas pain, but other than that, I am fine. I am on a Clear Liquids for a week, then next week I am on regular liquids. Then week three soft mushy foods and week four 3 meals a day and a two Snacks, of course staying away from certain foods. I am not going through this pain for nothing,I will eat right. I was on a liquid diet prior to surgery so I am used to it now, just worried about not getting enough Vitamins and a little apprehensive about taking pills because of the gas pains. Any suggestions?

Hi, first I want to thank God who is # 1 in my life and I thank him for the people on this forum, you helped me to decide to have this surgery. I have learned so much from all of you. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the LOSER'S SIDE!!! Glad to have you here amongst us. I'm always excited when someone has their surgery and is starting this wonderful journey. The best advice that I can give to you concerning gas is to walk, walk and walk some more. That is really the only thing that helps it to move and get out of your body. When I had my surgery all my gas was in my shoulder under the collar bone. That was aggravating too. Good luck with everything and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hugs,

Tammy P

Hi ya Trell, I was banded Friday & have been walking & playing with my son & today I have almost no gas pain its great!!!

They make a liquid Vitamin at GNC called Ultra Mega, its orange flavored, kinda spicy funky flavored but live able. I just got it today because I learned that chewable Flintstones aren’t good enough from a nutritionist lol.

Good luck to you dear!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
