Okay- This is not something thatI really like to talk about, but I feel like someone else may be having this problem. Everytime I eat, I have to go to the bathroon- no waiting, GOT TO GO!!! :cursing:Then I have diahrea, and I almost can't go eat with clients because this gets so bad. Once I had to pull over and run into the gas station. This is really embarassing, and I hope that I can figure it out. I am meeting with my doctor on Friday, but thought that I would ask and see if anyone else has this. Thanks

do some research on IBS. i have it and it sounds like you have some of the symptoms. of course, there can be many other things but more than likely, your doctor may treat you for IBS to see if things calm down. But i swear, you described me six months ago. but don't worry, it can be treated and there are things that you can do to help it. and sometimes, it just goes away on it's own. do some web surfing and read as much on it as you can but i recommened finding some medical journal articals on it. more facts in those. okay, i just read that you are new to the lapband system. if you are infact still on liquids, that may be the reason. but , you can still ask your doctor about IBS. i don't want to give you wrong information.

If you are taken in alot of protien, sometimes that can cause you to have diarrhea.

Actually, I had severe diarrhea on Friday, 3 days after surgery. I was told to keep up the Clear Liquids and stop Protein for a day or so to see if it cleared up. It did. I started the Protein again yesterday and it seems fine.

The doctor did tell me if it didn't stop, he would want to make sure there wasn't some kind of infection and wanted me to call over the weekend if it continued.

Call your doctor ASAP. Good Luck.

to much of a change in your diet to suddenly cant cause it also. Its best to talk to your doctor since he/she might want to run tests.

Michee, you usually have bowel movements, after you have eaten meat, mainly red meats and of course meats have protien. Then throw in some type of Fiber with that protien and that says volcano (diarrhea).

Okay, what exaclty is IBS ans its symptoms. I probably have it. When my gall bladder was removed 7 years ago, I lost 45 lbs in 2 months because of my diareah, I underwent a lot of of tests (blood, Wheat Intolerance, even a colonoscopy), but no one said IBS.

Most likely as some have mentioned, if you are on your liquids stage it can cause a runny stool. I had this as well.

Funny thing now is, I have a hard time even going anymore.

Blech.

I had diahrea when I first came home from the hospital. I had my surgery 100 miles from where I lived it was a horrible trip home. From Boise Idaho to Twin Falls Idaho. All dessert. WOW. All it well now. On Puree diet. Now I am just hurgry.

I had a lot of diarrhea in the first couple of weeks. Not really bad, but noticeable. After a few weeks and more solid foods, it just went away. When I did have this problem, it was always directly following meals.

It might just be your body adjusting to dietary changes.

IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is a condition in which you may have either diarrhea OR Constipation. Stress usually compounds the symptoms of IBS. I have been diagnosed with it before, but my symptoms have subsided. I am doing the preop bowel prep & I had an EXPLOSIVE BM tonight. Couldn't even make it to the RESTROOM. How embarrassing, huh?

Ah Ha! I thought it might be this mushy food causing the loose stools, especially since I don't have any other symptoms now. So I will bring it up at my post-op this Wednesday but still feel better that it's just part of the first month fun :-). Thanks for the informative post!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
