Hi all. I am over 2 months post op and before the surgery I quit taking my Effexor XR anxiety/depression medication b/c I knew I wouldn't be able to take it after surgery since it is extended release. I have put off going to my family doctor b/c I hate wasting a half a day in the dr's office, but I can put it off no longer. I can tell that I need my medication! Any suggestions from people who were previously taking Effexor? I liked it, no real side effects so I want something similar to that. Any suggestions before I go to the doctor, from pre surgery effexor users?

Hi: I am 8 months out after lap band surgery and have been taking Effexor XR the whole time. My surgeon knows and has never said it was/would be a problem. Seems to work fine. Good luck.

I know every doc is different, but my doc said my pills were okay.

capsules are fine.

stopping effexor is bad news, I've been through it.

I'm on 2 different meds now. I never stopped taking them even when I just got banded.

I don't think there should be a problem taking your meds.

check again with your doc.

Hi I am also on Efexor XR (150mg). I am 3 weeks out right now, and I have been taking them all along. Doc knew, and the night after my surgery when I was in hospital the nurse gave it to me by emptying the capsule into one of those medicine measures (tasted horrible like the inside of a beanbag). Anyway I am still taking it now, in capsule form, along with other medications, with no problems.

I cant go even one day without it or I get those horrible zaps.

Good luck
