Ok, Saturday was my 1st day being able to have meat. So for dinner, I had 3 meatballs. Keep in mind they are tiny, and i broke them up and chewed really well. After, i was kind of nautious, but the feeling passed. However I also had a Migraine, and an hr later decided to take some tylenol with codeine liquid which burned the whole way down. Then 4 hrs later, I had a pain in my sternum that radiated to my back, and i didnt know if i was gonna throw up or poop ( TMI ) ..i tried Water, but that seemed to make it worse.....I was totall paranoid that I should go to emergency, but after about an hr it went away. Is this normal, and does this mean I shouldn't try meat for a while? :)

I'm going to guess it could have been a combination of things. If were already going to get a Migraine and it just made things worse, or you may not have chewed well enough.

You might want to "prime" your band with a bite then wait 5 minutes to eat the rest. It is a fickle thing.

Your experience you just had stinks. yuck

It could be the coedine, i can not take it, it makes my gas pain worse.

Been there done that! Sounds like too much too soon. Eat more slowly...drinking when that happens does tend to make things worse! I've found that if the pain is that bad...something is stuck. I've found, by trial and error, that it is sometimes best to cough up the offending food other than wait it out. You get immediate relief and it doesn't hurt to get rid of it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
