Non-adjustable Bands

Recommended Posts

Im scheduled to be banded on 05/9/08. Im going to have this done in Monterrey with Dr. Roffe. Does anyone Have any info on this doctor? Also ive seen some studys done that compare the adjustable to the non-adjustable and the results are in favor of the non-adjustable for long term results. Does anyone have this band? Or any information on the after car or effects? Please let me know !!! :confused2:

I have never heard of the non-adjustable band. Maybe some of the veteran bandsters know.

Good luck with your surgery!!

I know one person who has a non-adjustable band. She is not doing well with it. Her latest diagnosis was that her band had "shrunk" and essentially cut off her ability to get anything down. That was about 2 years ago. She refuses to go back to the surgeon for fear he will want to remove it, and she will get fat again (in all honestly she could gain about 15 lbs and still be a sz 0).

Well, the doctor ive been talking to is Dr. Roffe. The only link i have is in spanish...you can probably look over it and understand it though. My aunt lives in Monterrey and knows a few people that have done this and says they look good and are very happy. He told me i can be at my goal weight in 8 months (which is to loose about 85lbs), if i followed his instruction.sounds too good to be true but i thought he was being possitive. Another example of a purely restrictive bariatric procedure is nonadjustable gastric banding. It was first introduced in 1978 by Wilkinson, who applied a 2 cm Marlex mesh round the upper part of the stomach and separated the stomach into a small upper pouch and the rest of the stomach. Eventual pouch dilatation resulted in unsatisfactory weight loss.

In 1980, Molina described the gastric segmentation procedure, in which a Dacron vascular graft was placed around the upper stomach. The gastric pouch was smaller than Wilkinson’s procedure. Because the Dacron graft produced adherence of the liver to the band, it was replaced ultimately by PTFE (Gortex®).

In 1983, Kuzmak began using a 1 cm Silicone® band to encircle the stomach, creating a 13 mm stoma and a 30-50 mL proximal gastric pouch. This band was later modified to provide adjustability of the band diameter using an inflatable balloon (“Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding”).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
