What is the easiest food to eat?

Recommended Posts

Hello, this is my first post. I was banded 02/15/08 only had one fill, and I find that I have trouble eating quite a bit of things. Sometimes, a paticular food will go down really easy. So, I will think "Hey, I am going to eat that more often" then the next time I try it, it gets stuck?? Is this normal?

Also, do any of you seem to have problems early in the day, like with your first meal?

Anyways, I was curious about these things. And, wondered what seems to be the easiest meal to eat (besides soup)..

Thanks...

As for your title question, ask 20 ppl and get 20 answers. We're all so different/unique when it comes to food tolerances.

Yes, very normal, especially since you're still in the learning phase and probably doing something different behaviorally that makes it seem like it's the food. But "having trouble eating" - does that mean it's causing pain/pressure, or that you're having to bring it back up?
Also, do any of you seem to have problems early in the day, like with your first meal?
Also very common. I pretty much can't eat before lunch, and sometimes at lunch I'm lucky to get more than a few spoons of Soup. Lots of us omit Breakfast or go with liquids (even liquids can give pressure for me in the am). Perhaps try some hot tea, warm liquids seem to open up the area a bit.

Protein drink Meal Replacement, but if you're talking about solid foods, again - 20 people will give you 20 answers. I have good luck with cooked turkey pepperoni chips, they seem to be my catch-all food.

That's totally normal...one day I can eat tuna, the next day I can't. Restriction is not a constant. There are so many factors, menstrual cycle, congestion (and others that I don't know) that can affect it. You'll learn to work with it.

cheese is my constant..I can always eat cheese so I try and buy lowfat cheeses as a standby in case I can't eat something else.

Thanks for the info... That makes me feel better. As for the foods, I am just curious what other people find the easiest to go down.

Libra - I would have never thought that cheese would be a contant... I will give it a try.

Any one else? What you favorite?

My first meal cannot be anything solid or before 9:30. oatmeal always goes down and it is filling for me. What you described in your first post seems pretty normal to me, sometimes things go down with no problems. Other times..forget it!

Also I never have a problem with fish.

I have very few foods that are "danger" foods for me despite having good restriction. Are you "chewing to goo" with each bite? For example, when I eat steak or chicken I chew to goo and then anything that won't chew down that far I spit out. So my danger foods tend to be things that might gob together in my pouch, like french fries. I pretty much just avoid those things altogether.

I always keep Glucerna bars or something similar on hand to use as a replacement meal. South Beach has some good ones too.

Every day is different for me. I think everything I eat has at one time or another gotten stuck. lunch seems to be the best time for me, mornings I'm tight, oatmeal after 9 am is usually ok, sometimes some yogurt. Lunch is fairly open with some restrictions, no bread. Cant tolorate it at all. dinner is touch and go. Sometimes I eat whatever the family is eating, and sometimes it just ain't gonna happen and I bring out the Soup. Good thing i love soup!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
