Do you have words that irritate you?

Something about the word "moist" almost makes me hurl.

And why do all the people on movie and TV call realtors REAL uh tors?

Being from Nevada it would have to be the almost nationwide practice of saying Nevada wrong. The 'vad'part rhymes with mad.rad,cad,sad.Not odd, rod, cod, sod.Just a local pet peeve that bugs the hell out of us.:smile2:

I have a list of these words like no other.....but the best way to upset me is to say "Uh-huh" and the first part be long and drawn out...lol...

My kids do it to me to make me mad, I don't know why I hate it so, but I do.

Well, it started with my husband and me making fun of him, but anytime I hear anyone say "all the sudden" instead of "all of a sudden", it irritates me.

My way may not even be the right one, but it still bugs me when anyone says it not my way. LOL

I basically don't have one particular word. What "peeves" me is when I hear purposefully unsimilar dialect.

I hate the word 'items' I can't explain why but I can't stand when people refer to their stuff as items.

Also, the word 'pickles' often sends me into hysterics, no real explanation on that one either :rolleyes2:

Oh Lordy! I've got a list of words too! LOL What a funny thread!

Okay, here's just ONE of my pet peeves. Here in Ohio, people say that they "warsh" their clothes, "warsh" the car, etc. HUH??? Last I checked, Webster's clearly spells it WASH and is pronounced without an "R" !!!

Ugh!

I hate "My bad" and "nipple". In fact for years I couldn't even say "nipple". Having a baby cured that.

I cringe with "cunt," (used in any way) "dick" (used as anatomy reference), and "tit" (used any way, but especially by a female). I really do not say nor can I stand to hear someone else say those words.

I don't like "comfy" - especially when people think it's "compfy".

And I don't like "month" anymore because for some reason I seem to have developed a speech impairment that makes me say "munt" no matter how hard I try... so until I fix it, I'm not saying the word anymore.

Gobbets. Nothing good ever ends up as a gobbet.

Grammatically, I hate the "I be" "He be" "We be" "They be" trend. Makes me want to smack complete strangers.

My boss will come into the office and ask for urgent stuff to be done 'ASP' instead of ASAP....

it starts to grind after a million times.....

In England there's a word that we use to refer to morons, I guess you guys in the USA would say jerks or whatever, our word is 'divvy' and it makes me want to puke. 'Div' I can just about manage but 'divvy' makes my skin crawl.

Cool thread, got me thinking of stuff rather than my painful gas 3 days post op :-)

I hate when people say Missour-uh instead of Missour-ee. There is an I on the end, not an a. It drives me nuts. I could almost understand from people who don't live here, but so many people who do live here still say Missour-uh.

I also hate the word panties. I don't wear panties, I wear underwear. Or if I'm being goofy, drawers. My five year old insists that girls wear panties and only boys wear underwear. :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
