Questions 6 days post banding....

Recommended Posts

Day six after surgery for me and I honestly don't know if anything I am feeling is right or wrong.

Im constantly dizzy/light headed when in an upright position(I have a call in to the nurse at the clinic on this) and

Although I have not been hungry at all since the surgery I seem to be able to get all liquids down faster than what I have seen people talk about. That being said I think the reason for the dizziness may be that Im not eating enough???

I have lost 3kgs since the surgery though which Im rather pleased about.

Even though I have read the literature, spoken to my dietitan and watched her DVD I still worry that what I am eating will move the band.

I can say that my surgeon was very impressed with me on the day of surgery, In all my scans he said showed a very fatty liver, and when he opened me up he said my liver was perfect with no fat at all. Im very impressed with myself on this one as I know all the sacrifices I made was worth it.

I have been in the regret phase the last couple of days(anyone else have this feeling)

I guess you can all tell I am very confused about everything.

If anyone can shed some light on any of my questions I'd be grateful, that is if you can decipher the madness!

Thanks

Cazz

Hi Cazz,

I was banded 3/5/08. I didn't have any problems with dizziness but have NO problems drinking as much as I want. Since you haven't been eating much you could have low blood sugar or an electorlyte imbalance. It wouldn't hurt to have some gatorade or other type of sports drink. I'm glad to hear you called the nurse.

I think everyone that has gotten the lap band has had a few moments of regret early on. I know I spent a few days wondering what the hell I was thinking. I feel great now though and I know you will too.

Good luck and keep us posted! :-)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
