Can I drink champagne?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to drink champagne occasionally -- maybe a few glasses every 2 months or so. My nutritionist has mixed feelings on it -- not a hard answer. Wondering what the rest of you were advised?

I don't drink sodas or any other carbonated beverages. Didn't really drink them before surgery either.

Any thoughts?

I am pre band and I can barely drink that now without feeling like I am going to pop.

It's alot of liquid calories so you might want to rethink if it's really worth it or not... But I would just get a tiny bit in a glass and sip it very slowly to see how you react.

Yes, you can have a glass of wine, but again it is empty calories. I like to have a drink from time to time so if I choose to I have one or two on the weekend. If I do drink a glass of wine I try to make it replace my snack so I don't add on to many calories. I use to like a glass of wine with my dinner but I had to work that out.

I did read on one of these threads that one bandster has her glass of wine daily in place of her Snacks and she is still losing. Remember we can anything that we can tolerate just do it in moderation.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
