Juli 0 Posted March 31, 2005 I need some advice on the necessity of my 2nd fill. I was banded 2/28/05, a little over 4 weeks ago. I had my first fill last week. I can feel restriction, but nothing too tight. My PA told me that she wants me to come back in for another fill in about two weeks. I have lost a total of 27 pounds since I was weighed one week prior to surgery. (Average of 5.4 lbs per week.) My questions is..... If I am making this much progress should I get a fill right now? Should I wait until I hit a plateau? I don't feel deprived of food at all. I am currently eating about a cup per meal of mostly healthy items. (Small indulgence once and awhile...) So far I have been trying to walk more and will begin a work out program this week. Any guidance that I can receive is appreciated. Thank You, Juli
wanttobe110 2 Posted April 5, 2005 Hi Juli, I am new to the band, too. I was banded on 2/18/05. How much weight did you lose this past week? i am wondering if you lost most of your weight while on the liquid part of the diet.
La_madam 20 Posted April 5, 2005 Juli, as long as you are losing 1-3 lbs a week, and if you do not feel deprived from food right now I see no need for a fill. Save the fill for when your wieght loss slows down and you are hungrier.. Our bands only hold so much, why use it all up so soon into your journey. If it were me I would not get a fill. I have been banded a year and have only had 3 fills. I stretch mine out, when I tihnk I need a fill I use my head more then the band. Just my opinion. You are doing great! Congrats! Here is a great site to learn about when you need an adjustment, it will help you http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm Good Luck
Juli 0 Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks for the advice. I think I will wait for a few weeks and see if my progress stalls. I have been walking more, but have not made it back to the gym yet. The gym should provide a metabolism boost that has not yet been realized. Wanttobe110: My liquid diet portion was only for a week prior to the operation. After surgery it was only a couple of days. I lost about 4-5 lbs before the actual surgery and about 25 lbs in the 5.5 weeks since.
