Hi My name Mary , This is what happen to me yesterday during a routine unfill. thanks let me know if you want any more info. its just a quick letter to my friend i try to stay in touch with. I meet her on the lap band chat.pardent my grammer and spelling!

well went to get a fill one wed this week. everything seemed good went to sleep had some reflux not to bad.

nest night a lil worse on soft foods. than last night i had claim chowder Soup for dinner and hot coco after wards.

Very hard night was up most of the night coughing cause every time i fell asleep i woke up feeling like i was drowning

i woke up from the noise to of my tummy trying to help things go down are should i say throat noises.

i felt like crap this mourning got up and called my dr on her cell. she was about a 2 hour drive away and wouldn't be back in town until around 8pm. she asked me to call back about 4pm to see when she would be on her way.

i called at 4pm she was going to be coming in around 6 and would call me when she was a few miles away.

she called i left and meet her about 6:30pm i had sipped on tea all day but only got maybe 3-4 oz down total

here we are in the office, things are going great she start the procedure and the needle is in Water is being taken in and all of a sudden i felt light headed. i let her know im felling light headed. she asked me if i want to sit i said "no im fine". than she says you look pale go ahead and sit down she goes to get me sugar and and some miso soup to get more liquids in my system.

Thank GOD i made my husband come for the first time!

all of a sudden i cant really hear things and i tell them im going to faint i try to stay awake but i cant.

i faint are fall asleep against my will

and i go into a seizure!!!

yea a seizure!!

than i can hear right at the end of it my husband asking her did you see that she just had a seizure and he had fear in his voice i could feel my body jerking just at the end for maybe seconds. my hands got stiff and felt numb and like they were asleep i couldn't move them for a good 5 minutes after that than as i drank soup things started to get better. during the seizure i knocked out my needle ( rolls eyes) . she set me up with iv and gave me all kinds of Vitamins. i felt way better !!! we left the office about 7:45pm after that had tunnel vision and couldent concentrate well for a few hours but im doing much better.

I dont have anything in my band right now im on a liquid only diet and will see her tuesday after noon. i will keep you posted. by the way i never have had a seizure in my life! it lasted 6-9 second to my knowledge.

im doing ok now! no worries just be carefull that you are always getting enough down.

I am with you - I had surgery (lap Band) April 6th - 2007 passed out had seizure like symtoms April 30th ended up in the ER - they claimed I was dehydrated went home - happened again July 2007 - then again October 2007 that time in the ER I told them I wasn't leaving until they found out what was wrong - they did a MRI, CT, blood work, everything - nothing.

My entire left side went numb - tingling from my eyes to my toes.

I am in the process of getting my band removed at this time I will be having surgery around May. after all the tests that I have done the only thing they can come up with is that my body has rejected it. for the 16 pounds that i have lost in over 1 year - I will have it removed.

I wish you the best of luck, please keep me posted.

hopefully your doctor can fix your problems with out having it removed.

Tammy

My daughter had her lap band in Nov 07; her fill Jan 9; Jan 14 seizure type episodes every 4-5 minutes; Jan 17 removed fill; went to Neuro Docs, had all kinds of test; Apr 9 had band removed; still having seizure type episodes and now on seizure meds and about 4 other type of meds; all test are negative; now seeing a dianostic dr. I think it is time we get a law suit against what these docs are doing. I would love to hear from you my email address is bbozema@entergy.com

I don't think it's the doctor's faults. It sounds to me like people aren't getting enough nutrition. =/ I don't think lawsuits are the answer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
