Feeling much better everybody....Thanks for everybodys responses...Its been overwhelming seeing how many others went through (and are going through) the same horrible feeling. Thank you so much to everyone who responded to this, and to all the people who are having a hard time: I wish you all speedy recoveries ...But, it just took some time like you all said. But, I NEVER feel hungry. Thats a good thing right??? I wonder if I will ever feel hungry again???:tt1:

Glad to hear your feeling better !!!:) You probably will feel hunger again. I do on occasion specially when i miss a fill apointment. On the plus side that hunger is relieved with a LOT less than it used to take. The body is still the same in a sense, but the fact that the hunger will go away with the right food choices, and a lot less is the plus of it. If you make the right choices you may not get that " I just wanna cram 3 Big Macs down my throat" feeling ( which i wouldnt recommed to ANYONE ...lol ).

I felt the same way you do my first week.. I was hurting and I was asking myself if I did the right thing by having the surgery... but I am now almost 5 weeks out and I can tell you I definitely did the right thing.. By next week you will be feeling better.. it seems each day you feel better and better..

I am about 25 pounds down and sooo happy I did this.. I cant wait to see where I am in 1 year..

I know what you are talking about. When I woke up the pain was a surprise to me!! I did not expect it to be so much. I am feeling better now that I have released the gas that I have and that I have started eating a few things. My doctor told me to eat some muchy stuff once a day along with the protine stuff and I feel wonderful. As much as one can with pain that is *giggle* But when I got on the scale and 4 pounds were missing I can tell you that it is worth it all. You will be just fine and you will be a success too!! Keep telling yourself hat and it will happen for you just like it has for so many others. I take the good pain stuff at night so that I can get a good rest, as your body needs that to heal.

Take care,

Nancy

I had my surgery yesterday, and it has been hell so far. The pain meds. in hospital made me sick, and I can't find any relief! I know I gotta be positive but it just seems hopeless, I hope in a few days I'll be on here singing to a new tune, just at this stage It's hard to get past the pain and the gas makes me feel like I could explode.:frown:

Hi Everyone-

I just officially joined this forum although I lurked before my procedure last Wednesday. Was still surprised by the uncomfortable gas and am going around with the "What have I done?" mantra tonight. Thank goodness I found this thread :-). It was very comforting to see that this is all normal and progresses as I heal and learn. I'm looking forward to being on this forum quite a bit and happy to see so many supportive people!

Thank you!

I was in the same boat- the Percocet made my gas pain and bloating more comfortable (barely) but it made me nauseaus. If I went without the Percocet then the gas pain and bloating were intolerable. Only time seemed to help and my doc took me off Percocet and said to just use the Xtra Strength Tylenol. I'm glad I did because I feel better without the nausea. The gas is finally escaping too, little by little. I am still bloated and look 7 months pregnant and sore but I can move around now without wanting to pass out from the pain.

I had major spine surgery less than a year ago and was back at work in a week. This surgery really threw me for a loop but everyday does get better. I was planning on going back to work tomorrow but I'm just not sure I'm ready. I'm still in turtle speed, especially in the morning so I'll have to wait and see how today goes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
