Liquid diet question....

I was just curious if it varies from doctorto doctor how long you need to be on a liquid diet before you are banded. Just from reading different posts I have seen different things from 1 week to 2 weeks. I have not met with my doctor yet, and of course I will ask him. I was just curious how long you were on the liquid diet and how you did on it. Thanks!

Every doctor has something different. Mine was a 2 week liquid diet pre-op and now he does a 2 week liquid after becuase patients were advancing themselves faster then they should. So it's best to ask your own doc. Some just require a clean out the weekend before, some a week of liquids, I have heard of some requiring a 4 wk...that would have been SO tough!

Mine does 4 week Optifast pre-surgery, then 4 weeks of tapering up to solids post-surgery. By the time I have surgery, in two weeks, I'll have done only 3.5 weeks preop.

Mine is a 7 day liquid - but basically it is low carbs (40 - 50 per day), no sugars, high protein; so with that said, I can have a hard boiled egg, mozerella cheese (0 carb - 0 sugar) and lean steak or skinless chicken breast to ease any craving of chewing or taste of meats;

Today is day 3 - I have dropped 6 lbs so far and doing good.

My surgery will be this Saturday the 19th in Mexico.

Mine was a 3 week liquid diet. Just SF Carnation Instant Breakfast (5 x a day), SF popsicles, SF Jello, and broth. I know that he said the way that he figures it, is depending on that person's BMI.
