Total meltdown yesterday - just venting

Don;t be too hard on yourself, this is a very tough road we are embarking on...it takes willpower and mental strength...once you have had your surgery, your body will help you make the right choices. Do the best you can and talk to your husband about how this lifestyle change for you, will affect him and how you eat in the future. Best of luck, you will do great...Cathy

Marisa - I wish it was Cracker Barrel I was talking about. Unfortunately we don't have them in CA. The restaurant is a local steak house that opened up within the past year called Cool Hand Luke's.

Never even heard of the place. Gotta say that the menu looks like something I would've probably loved, uh, once upon a time :smile2:.

I can see how you would've had a difficult time. I bet they would've done some of the seafood without the sauces, or maybe just one of the steaks plain with one of the salads.

I'm kind of afraid to ask what your DH ordered!

I just wanted to add that 5 shakes a day seems like alot (depending on how much Protein is in them). Be careful of taking in more than 100 grams of protein a day because it can affect your kidneys.Other than that, you are doing great. The fact that you made it work even when the choices were limited says alot about you. You could have gone for the "last supper syndrome" and eaten that fried fatty foods, but you went with the best choice possible in a difficult situation. Stay positive & you will get there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
