I went to GNC and bought a couple of the Isopure drinks and the New Whey Protein bullets. I can handle the bullets because I can swallow a couple mouthfuls without breathing so I don't get that smell, which to me smells like curdled milk. But the Isopure drinks for me leave a horrible milky aftertaste and the smell is more than I can handle. It also leaves this gross film on my teeth. Are there any other drinks people have tried that don't have that 'milky' smell or taste? I'm really just worried about it until I get to eat solid foods because I can eat stuff with more protein. But I'm still on full liquids and I'm struggling to get in all my protein right now, even with the whey powder in my drinks.

My doctor's post op liquid phase was 3 carnation instant Breakfast shakes per day. It was the sugar free/ no sugar added powdered mix in the blue box. I mixed it with 8 oz skim milk and added an additional 1/3 cup of nonfat dried milk to it. I put everything into my little shaker cup...shake...shake...shake...and presto an easy, tasty 20 grams of Protein. I've also bought "unjury" brand Protein Powder. It comes in several different flavors, one of them being unflavored. I made high protein Jello which works out to 10 grams of protein in 1/2 cup serving. The recipe is on the Unjury website. The unflavored does have a little "milky" taste to it, but I couldn't really taste it in the jello. Anyway, hope this helps. My challenge now is how to get in 50-60 grams of protein now that I'm on the mushies stage, and I'm not supposed to be drinking meals anymore.

I swear by the IDS Protein bullets. I can get all 60 grams of protein in 4.5 oz of Fluid. I do a 1.5 oz "shot" three times a day and I am done. I am not a fan of any protein supplements so I like the small volume required. When I get off mushies I will still use them if need to supplement.

Hi, my husband bought me something on the military base, it is a Protein Powder called "Milkshake", 6 grams of carbs and it is delicious, 15g of Protein per scoop, and it is good with Water. I drink mine with water. They sell many flavors on *bay.

The Isopure Water is about 5 bucks a 20oz bottle at GNC so thats to much for me... highway robbery.

I am using slim fast low carb at sams club and krogers. I am also using a Protein powder from target. So if you go shopping it can be found...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
