I was wondering if anyone knows how long after being banded are you able to start to ride amuzement park rides? I live near an amuzement park and my kids are reminding me that the park opens May 3rd and that they want to go. I am being banded April 15th. Thanks.

Chilly

Hi Chilly,

I moved your post out of introductions and into this forum, I hope you don't mind.

I am not really sure about amusement parks. You will be a little over two weeks out, I was still pretty sore then. Personally, I would not have gone near an amusement park at that time. But, everyone heals differently. The best advice I can give is to talk to your surgeon and find out how he/she feels about it.

Rollercoasters make me

I get motion sickness if I attempt to play video games on my kids PS3, sad, huh?

What IS the size limit for rollercoasters? I told my boys I'd take them this year, but I wanna make sure I fit before we head out! LOL

I don't know if there is a particular size or not. I can tell you when I was a size 18 I could fit, but just barely. That was on both the older wooden type and the newer padded pull over your head type of seats. I don't think I will try it again until I am a 16 or smaller, personally. Hope that helps!

i went this last summer to several six flags, and at a size 22-24, i fit in almost everyride. one ride i had to sit in the big seat, but i fit in all the other rollercoasters, though some were just barely.

I'm like oninamillion, at size 18, I was barely squeezing into the seats. I can't wait to go this summer though!

I have no idea exactly what size made the difference, but somewhere between 22/24 and 16 I passed the change!!! I avoided them the entire time between the sizes!!!

Many amusement parks have websites, and some of them go into size accomodations. So much of it depends on the ride, and how you carry your weight. I know even now the over the shoulder bars seem snug (guess they are supposed to!) but look like they don't go as far down on me as on others. But I am large chested. I have lots of room side to side----but until my TT the bars, and belts, and such still seem snug and I am a comfortable size 14.....it just is how I carry the weight. But not for long!!!

I was a size 24 and I fit on everything. But I think it depends on body shape. Right now, I weigh 220 and am a loose size 18. I know I would have no problem fitting on anything at Disneyland or Six Flags.

Hope that helps!

Angie.. There is a size limit here in New York to ride roller coaster. You have to be under 200 lbs. or they can weigh you if they think you are bigger. I was just wondering how long it took for people to be able to feel comfort riding.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
