I was just wondering is their any special precautions you have to take if you are going to get any type of surgery done after you have the lap band done, and also do all medications pill form have to be switched to liquid form just thinking long term.

I am having problems one of my pills, so I think I need to break it into thirds before I take them. I'm on several different medications...

Also, I take all my meds with milk instead of Water. It makes them go down easier and are easier on my tummy. (check with your pharmasist to make sure that food doesn't negatively impact your meds)

If you have large solid pills (not time released), a lot of them can be dissolved in a large tablespoon of Water. Then wash them through with plenty of water afterwards. If you're taking prescription meds., as you lose weight, the dosage may need to be adjusted. Your doctor should be the one to advise you. (Ex. blood pressure, diabetes, asthma)

I have had a sorta difficult time with my meds since surgery. A lot of it is my fear of one getting stuck. I have had two incidents where a pill got stuck right in the middle of my chest and I was in agony for two hours.

Some tricks I have learned:

If your med comes in a liquid get it. I am now on two of my meds that are liquid and I am much better about taking them.

If a pill is scored and can be broken in half do so and take each half with a lot of liquid.

If it is a capsule, hold the capsule in your mouth for a bit to soften it then take it with plenty of liquid.

If the capsule is large, put a small amount of juice or crystal light in a medicine cup, open up the capsule and let the powder dissolve and then chug it back, followed by a lot of liquid.

I feel like I am taking medicine all day. But acutally I am taking a couple less then before surgery. I am also still on four insulin shots a day, that bites.

I take the chewable Viactive Multi Vitamins, I have a chewable allergy pill I take and I use childrens chewable tylenol or Adult Liquid Tylenol if I need something for a headache or whatever.

My hope and prayer is that some of these meds will not be needed soon. But until then I am trying to do the right thing and take them with out causing myself great agony.

Hugs

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
