Jana when I was banded I couldn't even eat mushies or food food for more than a week. I was told liquids only. I realize Jello may liquify in your mouth but, it might be the issue. It's still more solid than liquid so it may be too much for your newly banded stomach. Stick to liquids for a while then try again. I haven't been able to eat Jello since I've been banded. Its just puts way too much air in my stomach and it causes me that golfball feeling in my chest.

Definately check with your doc and follow closely the food listings they've given you to follow. Good luck and hope you're healing up well.

i tried Jello the evening of my surgery. i took one bite and thought i might hurl. i would wait a day or two and then try again. just stick with liquids the first day. a sugarfree popsicle is better than jello anyhow.

I was banded on 4/2 and I only drank Protein Drinks and Water the day of surgery (after I got home, of course) and the next day. I was tooooo scared to even try anything solid. I didn't eat any Jello until day 3 and 4 and even then, I only did tiny bites. I think you need to give everything a chance to heal a little. Be patient, it will get better. For me, now 9 days later, I can tell you each one of my incision sites is still bruised so I know there was a lot of poking and prodding around during the surgery.

Whatever you do MAKE SURE you keep really well hydrated over the next 2 -3 days. Day 3 and 4 were my worst. I was feeling nauseous and dizzy and stopped drinking Water because I was afraid I would throw it up. That almost landed me back in the hospital. So no matter what, make sure you're getting as much liquids as possible.

Also, my doc says to have caffine free herbal tea is especially good if you feel nauseous...try mint or ginger, or a blend. Take small sips of it warm not hot.

My surgeon's nutritionist specifically told us NOT to try to eat Jello for the first couple of weeks, because it tended to make people vomit.

They gave me Jello at the hospital the night over my surgery. I didn't eat it because I couldn't eat anything. But a few days later I had a few bits of it and I thought for sure I was going to be sick. I got the whole mouth watering uncontrollably, but thankfully it didn't go past that. I've been so afraid of throwing up and am so glad I haven't! I haven't tried jello since that experience though.

yeah, when my daughter was banded in 10/06 they recommended Jello. When my husband and I were banded last October they had changed their advice and now say to stay away from it. It still gives me kind of a bleah feeling even six months after surgery.

i didnt starting eating solid food or mushies till after 4 weeks of the surgery.

but after that after fills, there are some types of food your band cant handle, and it differers from one person to other.

I dont know sometime i think my band has its own mind sometimes accept certain type of food the next it dont and it accept food in certain periods of the day... ??!! i dont know why ?

so all new banders its a case of trail and error, you must try to find out what suits you and what dont

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
