Hi Katja,

I'm in Berlin, and my surgery date is coming up in 4 days... April 30! I'm so happy to see a couple others from Germany are here. I'm an American, and even though I've lived in Berlin for over 4 years, there are some things that are still a mystery to me, like where to go to buy Protein drinks!

I have a long list of questions for my doctor at my pre-op appointment on Monday, that's for sure. :-)

Greetings from Canada!

You could try Almased. They have it at the Apotheken. Or they can at least order it for you. Almased is a soy based Protein shake and doesn't taste that bad. It has all the essential Vitamins and minerals to make it through the day.

Other Protein shakes should be available in local drug stores like Schlecker and DM. Try the "natural food section".

Some fitness clubs might sell also Protein Shakes.

Good luck!

Diva,

You will probably get a drink called "Fortimel" in the hospital. I did. I bought it in the Apotheke when i was released. The chocolate and strawberry are really good. Good luck on your surgery.

Congratulations Daniml!

I am an American living near Stuttgart. I was banded here. Let's keep in touch to share our thoughts on our adopted countries and of course, our progress with our bands!

Good luck on your surgery and come back and let us all know how you're doing.

Katja

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
