Lots of rumbling and gas pains?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4/8. The incisions don't hurt, but my stomach rumbles a lot and I have gas! Been taking gasx, but still have it. I don't burp. But I can feel the top of my stomach rumble. I hope I don't hurt the band! Any ideas what's going on? I'm on Clear Liquids. Also doc has me on zantac. Anything I could drink to stop the rumblings?

I am in my third week out and still struggling with gas. It just has to work itself out. My Dr. wasn't concerned that if could hurt my band. He just told me to walk when I can.

I was also banded on 4/8. I talked to the doctor just today about the rumbling. He said that it is from taking too much liquid in at once. He told me to take smaller sips. I have been burping quite a bit but the rumbling is still there. I think I've been sipping slowly, but I guess I will have to try harder. He did not seem concerned about it hurting anything.

I was banded 4/2 and had lots and lots of stomach growling and gas. My doctor told me I was swallowing too much air. He suggested a liquid antacid/anti-gas (anything with Simethicone)...I got liquid Mylanta and it worked pretty good (tasted gross!)

I've been concentrating on trying to gulp less air when I drink, because I don't want to have to take the gross Mylanta stuff anymore. It's hard, but it has cut down tremendously on the amount of air in my tummy.

I was banded 4-6 and today was the first day that I didn't have that big of a problem with a bloated stomach and rumbling. This may sound kind of crazy, but it's like I had to learn to burp all over again. For several days there, I could feel the air bubbles kind of bouncing around inside my stomach very uncomfortably but nothing I could do would get them out. Today has been a lot better- I've been burping a lot, which is ok with me because it keeps me from feeling like I have a balloon in my stomach bouncing around

Anyway- I know I only have you beat on the band by two days, but each day is a huge improvement over the previous day! It's all about adjusting, that's all

I'm 3 weeks out, so needless to say, I'm well past the gas and bloating (thank GOD)..but I can tell you...I didn't find ANY relief from any gas meds--every now and then sugar free tums helped...but a heating pad worked very well, walking worked even better, and of course time. Also, hot tea was very soothing. Hope this help?!?! hang in there...it won't actually last FOREVER!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
