ThinMinnie 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Tell me what your MD ordered for a post op diet. I am starving and just wandering what others are doing. I was banded on 4/2 and had to do Clear Liquids for 5 days (that was easy I wasnt hungry), then full liquids for 5 days(bad now appetite came back yesterday), then I will do 5 days of mushies before starting solids. readytoloselbs 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Hi, I know exactly what you mean. I had surgery on 4/3 and when my swelling went down and the gas pains subsided, I was hungry. My pre-op diet is just like yours. I called my surgeon on 4/8 and told him that I was hungry and they moved me to phase two (all liquids instead of just clear). I was not drinking my Protein Shakes and when I started incorporating them in my diet, I felt so much better. I have an appointment tomorrow and I am going to see if they can move me to mushies because I want some veggies and some more Protein (pureed chicken, tuna, etc.). My advice would be to call your surgeon and see what they advise you to do. Good Luck!!!
shaunni78 1 Posted April 11, 2008 As far as mushies, I did chicken salad, tuna, grits, oatmeal, basically anything that can be mushed up and swallowed easily( but not potatoes...they seem to hinder weight loss, at least for me). Walmart has these bags of Flounder and when you put them in the oven for 20 minutes, they mush up really well. I also made what you can call a meatless lasanga(sp). I got Ricotta cheese, Mozarella cheese, and American cheese, and spaghetti sauce...Layered all that up and baked it for 30 minutes....It was goood and very filling. Hope this helps a little bit..... ThinMinnie 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Oh wow-I want some of that meatless lasagna now!!
shaunni78 1 Posted April 11, 2008 it's is soooo good, easy to make, and very close to "real food"...but still relatively healthy. I was able to eat on the pan that I made for like 3 days, then I was sick of it....LOL
HeatherO 7 Posted April 11, 2008 Refried Beans mixed with a little broth to soften it with a little mozarella cheese on top was heavenly when i went to mushies. It is strange that I don't eat this now . . . but it really hit the spot after the liquid diet was finished.
